Lap Belt Release Assembly (Mini‑Koch)

Description
The
Mini‑Koch lap belt release is a derivative of the Koch parachute canopy
releases. It utilizes a similar two‑lever actuation to preclude inadvertent
release due to snagging or windblast. The opposing lever arrangement
facilitates simple one‑handed operation. The release is a small, lightweight,
unobtrusive, but high strength device, ideally suited for lap belts which
require only manual operation, in particular that used on the ACES II
ejection seat.
Its small size also permits its incorporation into the US Navy torso harness for retention to the ejection seat.
The
ultimate tensile strength of the assembly is in excess of 4,000 pounds.
